At the start of the 2018/2019 school year, High Park Day School officially became Summit Micro School!

Although our ‘HPDS’ moniker had been endearing to us for the last 7 years, we came to realize that it did not effectively represent who we truly are or what the school stands for (or even our geographic location, as first intended, for that matter!) After much deliberation, we concluded that ‘SUMMIT’ evokes the images that reflect the character demonstrated by our students, and which are synonymous with our objectives as a school.

When we think of a mountain’s summit, the highest point in elevation, we also think of the ambitious climber on an expedition, fearlessly making his or her way to the apex. They must have drive, determination, perseverance and an appetite for challenge – many of the traits we value and encourage in our students. ‘Summit’ is also reflective of our vision and mission to push the limits of education to new heights so that we can prepare students for the modern and ever-changing world.

Another aspect of our new name is the formal identification as a ‘micro school’. We have always insisted that our small size is maintained with great intention, and is a large contributor to what makes our school program so effective – and special. As reputation grows for this model of education, and the mainstream begins to acknowledge the benefits that this environment can provide to modern students, we can proudly assert that we have been pioneers and champions of the micro school.

Although our name is now different, you can expect the same progressive, engaging and responsive program that you have come to know and which will be consistent with the philosophy, mission and values defined from the onset. We look forward to our ongoing partnership in your child’s journey in education at SUMMIT MICRO SCHOOL!
