Kevin Marigal
Teacher
Kevin Madrigal grew up in California and has lived in Indiana, Alberta, and Vancouver Island before settling here. They hold a Bachelor of Education in Elementary Education with a minor in Adventure Programming, and this is his fifth year of teaching.
At Summit Micro School, Kevin appreciates the flexibility to pursue learning adventures organically and the strong relationships he builds with students and staff. Their teaching is guided by a passion for outdoor education and student-centered methods, always aiming to create meaningful learning experiences in nature.
Outside of teaching, Kevin enjoys hiking, canoeing, bushcraft, primitive earth skills, and spoon carving. A lover of speculative fiction, they often find time to read during his long train rides. Known for their creativity and unique style, Kevin loves crazy earrings and a good cup of coffee.
Kevin’s goal is to instill resilience, creativity, and empathy in his students, and if they could have one superpower, it would be the ability to magically calm students' limbic responses to help them through tough moments.
